SLNX File Share

SLNX File Share is a mobile application that gives users the capability to send and print PDF files securely from iOS and iPad devices to Ricoh MFPs via SLNX MIE. SLNX File Share also supports printing by Guest User using Release Keys generated by the application.

File Sharing Configuration

  1. Install and configure SLNX MIE with enabled SSL. Take note of the IP Address or hostname used to configure the MIE.

  1. Add devices to SLNX. These are the devices where the MFP user logs in and releases the print jobs sent from the SLNX File Share mobile application. Refer to Add Devices.

  2. Create users in the SLNX User Management: the users who will login to SLNX File Share and send PDF files and the MFP login user who will release the print job. Refer to Create User Accounts.

  3. Optionally, if you allow guest printing, enable and configure Guest Login in SLNX. Refer to Configure the Guest Printing Option.

  4. Install SLNX File Share mobile application from an App Store.

Print using SLNX File Share

Follow the steps below to send a print job using SLNX File Share application:

  1. Open SLNX File Share application from your iOS or iPad device

  1. Enter your SLNX username and password.

  2. Setup the SLNX MIE Server by providing the MIE Server address and port

Apple devices only support SSL communication so SSL is always enabled and cannot be modified.

  1. Tap [Save]. A success message is displayed indicating that the connection to MIE server is established. If an error is displayed, please check for incorrect username, password, MIE server address, or port.

When using the application for the first time iOS may present the user permissions dialog asking if you want to allow local connections. If you do not allow local connections, the app will be unable to connect to MIE and will not function.

  1. Open a PDF file from your mobile device. A browser such as Safari can also save a webpage as PDF and the file is opened after saving.

  2. Tap [Share] and in the list of applications, tap SLNX File Share

The SLNX File Share icon will only appear when the sharing is occurring on a PDF file.

  3. A dialog is displayed with pre-filled value of the document’s filename. If empty, enter the name of the PDF to be printed. This will be the name of the print job to be displayed in SLNX Job queue and MFP screen.

  4. Tap [Post].

If the configuration in SLNX File Share application contains errors, attempting to post the document will display an error message. The PDF file will not be sent as print job to MIE. Correct the configuration first before sending PDF print jobs.

  5. Login to MFP using the SLNX account used to send the print job. This is the account you provided to SLNX File Share in Step 2.

  6. Look for the print job with the name you entered previously and release the PDF print job.

The print job submitted by the user using SLNX File Share application is also displayed in SLNX Job Queue. All jobs sent to the SLNX MIE are displayed.

Print using Guest User

This application also allows a Guest User to send and release print jobs via Release Keys. Ensure the Guest User is configured correctly in SLNX. Refer to Configure the Guest Printing Option for instructions.

  1. In the screen, enter your email address in username field.

The email address is not validated. The address may or may not exist in SLNX User Management. As long as the username follows correct email address format, then printing using guest user is possible.
